Daly’s Birthday – 12th September 2019

Today is Daly’s birthday. He’s getting old. Bella and I had ballet first thing this morning so birthday celebrations were going to have to wait. I got Bella up and took her downstairs to get her ready to go to ballet. I popped the TV on and gave her her breakfast. While Bella was eating I set about blowing up the Happy Birthday balloons. I knew Daly was awake and I didn’t want him to come downstairs while I was blowing them up. Blowing them up ended up making me a bit dizzy but eventually they were all filled with air and I was able to hang them up.

I continued to get Bella ready to go to ballet. I popped her into her leotard and skirt. Then I got dressed and we headed out of the door.

This morning the roads were chaos. It took us forever to get to ballet. There were road works at the end of my road. There had been a burst water pipe and it was finally being fixed. Sadly because I didn’t know their were road works I hadn’t left any extra time. I mean the rest of the town is backed up with road works. I think it’s just safer to stay at home at the moment. We ended up turning up to class ten minutes late. Luckily Miss Paige didn’t mind, we just snuck in and found a spot in class.

Once again Bella had a great class and joined in so nicely, even with the disruption of turning up late. She made friends with a new little girl which was sweet. It did end up getting her a little hyped up though. Appart from a little hiccup of getting to excited and jumping up and down and screaming the rest of the class went perfectly. She is definitely becoming Mummy’s little ballerina.

Once ballet finished we made a quick pitstop into town to pick up Daly a balloon. Bella really wanted to get him one yesterday but I had no where to hide it so I thought after class would be the perfect time.

Bella went into Card Factory and I asked her which balloon she wanted to get daddy. She originally chose a My Little Pony balloon. I told her I didn’t think Daddy would really be interested in a balloon with a pony on it. I picked up a few happy birthday balloons and some daddy balloons and asked her to choose one. She ended up picking a balloon which said Super Daddy. I thought it was a good option as her card also had a superhero on it.

She was so excited when she got home. She ran through the door carrying her balloon.

She proudly gave it to Daly shouting Happy Birthday. She’s really got into birthdays recently. She keeps singing Happy Birthday. As well as a balloon for daddy she had also picked up a mini My Little Pony balloon. I thought that was a fair compromise.

Once she’d given daddy his balloon. I went upstairs to have a shower. I had told Daly he wasn’t allowed his presents until I had had a shower. I knew how many plans we had for the day. This was the only chance I was going to get to make myself look respectful.

Daly was happily watching a King Arthur film while Bella enjoyed playing in her playroom. It’s brilliant now it’s tidy, she happily takes herself off to play.

I eventually finished my shower and headed back downstairs to see what Bella and Daly were up to. Now I was downstairs Daly wanted his presents. I thought he would wait until after his film had finished but he wanted his presents now.

I gave Bella her present and card to give to Daly. Sadly the chocolate she had bought daddy had gone all funny. I’m guessing it had been left somewhere hot in ASDA meaning all the chocolate had melted and then hardened again but making it inedible.

Daly loved his card from Bella. She had tried so hard to draw him a picture in the card.

After he’d opened his card from Bella, he opened his present from her. It was a Lego Technic police car.

After he’d opened Bella’s gifts it was time for mine. First he opened the card. Now I’m convinced I bought him the same card last year. Every time I looked at it, it looked so familiar.

He opened the card and next up the present. I had done a photoshoot for Daly and then had it put into a book for him. It was brilliant because he had no idea about it.

Once presents and cards had been opened. Daly decided it was time for him to go upstairs for a shower. We were going out for lunch with his parents. Daly had chosen to go out to Pizza Hut for lunch.

Daly made it out of the shower and we all got dressed so we could go out. We all dressed up a little bit. Bella was in a dress, Daly popped on a shirt with jeans and I was in a skirt with a cardigan.

We met Daly’s parents at Pizza Hut not that Bella was excited to see them, she was more excited for the pizza. She had been begging for pizza for the last 30 minutes. In we went and found a table to sit at. It was great because with all our menus they brought Bella a colouring sheet and a tin of crayons.

Bella and Grandad sat at the end of the table colouring together. Grandad got a bit annoyed though apparently Bella messed up his colouring. He was not happy, he wanted his own colouring sheet now.

Eventually our food turned up. Bella was so excited when her pizza turned up.

We enjoyed our dinner. Everyone tucking into the pizzas. Bella finished her whole pizza. She had definitely been looking forward to that all day so I’m glad she ate it all.

After lunch we headed home for about an hour to get Bella ready for a sleepover at Cathy’s. She was staying there so Daly and I could go out and celebrate his birthday. I packed her little suitcase while Bella chilled out on the sofa and watched some Peppa Pig. Daly was getting a bit impatient of sitting at home but I said Bella deserved a little break at home before the next adventure.

I packed a bag for me with my make up and straighteners. I planned on doing it at Cathy’s. We weren’t planning on going to the pub until 7.30pm so I didn’t really need to get ready until 6pm. I was still all dressed up from lunch but I didn’t feel comfortable. Why is it the clothes you dress up in to go out are so uncomfortable. Well not uncomfortable but PJs are so much nicer to wear. I ended up getting dressed into my PJ bottoms to go to Cathy’s. Dly wasn’t pleased with me. Apparently PJ bottoms, a cardigan and boots are not an ideal outfit.

We made our way over to Cathy’s. I was surprised that Nathan was there but it was a pleasant surprise. We sat down and chilled out with a cuppa while Bella played. She knows exactly where the toy cupboard is so she dove in and pulled out all the toys she wanted.

We had a fun beginning to our evening. We sat chatting and Daly received his presents and cards from Nathan and Cathy. Bella continued to play happily. She eventually became a bit fed up and wanted something to watch. She had been typing away on the computer. We figure she was trying to find Paw Patrol. I ended up signing into my Netflix account so she could watch Blaze.

We were so distracted by Blaze on the TV, Bella playing and chatting away time ran away from us. We soon realised that Zach finished work soon and someone had to go pick him up. Nathan left to pick up Zach and I started my make up.

Bella raided my make up bag looking to see what trouble she could get into. I gave her my highlighter, which she loves to use, and a brush. By the time she’d finished Bella had a very shiny face.

Zach came home, and had something to eat while I finished getting ready. Soon it was time to make our way down to the pub.

Daly had given me his presents and cards to pop in the back seat of the car. He told me to be careful with his present from Zach. He’d gotten Daly a personalised glass. So I strapped it in in the back of the car.

We made it to the pub where we met up with Hannah and Kayne. Jack and Shaunagh were coming down to the pub and we knew Joe and Jess might turn up. We enjoyed our night chatting and catching up on what we’d all been up to. Hannah and I both ordered food. I had planned getting some topped chips but Hannah changed my mind. She ordered a burger so I decided to get one too. I had to make sure mine came with onion rings though. That has been a past mistake on one of my trips to Wetherspoons with Hannah.

Jake and Shaunagh eventually turned up. Hannah, Shaunagh and I sat in our little corner chatting while all the guys had their little group. Joe turned up after a while. Jess sadly didn’t show, she wasn’t feeling great, also she’d just finished a shift at work so she just wanted to go home.

The time ticked by and it was coming close to last orders. Suspiciously Joe and Zach disappeared together. They soon reappeared though with Joe carrying a tray of shots.

Everyone had a shot except the drivers in the group. Daly ended up with two shots though. I mean he is the birthday boy so two shots is nothing. He didn’t enjoy his shots though.

We stayed at the pub a little longer before we decided we should probably all call it a night. We all left together and said goodbyes to each other outside.

I believe Daly had a brilliant birthday. He seemed very happy with how he spent the day and all the presents and cards he received. Now another 366 days before he gets to do it all again. (Next year is a leap year)

Night all and let’s see what adventures tomorrow holds for us.

Love CiCi x
