Lockdown 2020 – Homeschooling – 11th May 2020

This morning Bella had ballet so we got ready for that and Bella joined in nicely. She is doing so well with her ballet. Every lesson she seems far more engaged and is improving so well. I’m so proud of her.

After ballet the rest of the morning was pretty chilled. I needed to sort out my shopping list for the week. I sat on the sofa trying to work out what food we needed for the week. I hadn’t really meal planned for this week so it was a bit of a panicked what do we need. I tried my best to guess what we needed.

We tried to do a little bit of home learning today – it’s been pretty hit and miss recently. I don’t know why. I wonder if it’s because we’re stuck inside the house. It’s the same everyday and Bella is getting more and more frustrated with being at home. I know she misses our days out and visiting family and friends.

Today I was focusing on Bella counting. We’ve been working on this and we’ve finally cracked her counting and remembering 4. We were using a dice to make an animal puzzle. Bella chose a lion puzzle.

We sat together and Bella rolled the dice. She then counted the spots on the dice and I helped her choose which piece she needed. We haven’t been focusing on what the numbers look like.

It is suppose to be a game a bit like a beetle drive but we just focused on Bella’s one animal rather than focusing on taking it in turns.

Bella did extremely well with her counting. I’m very impressed with how well she’s doing.

We stopped for a bit of lunch and a break before focusing on our activity for the afternoon. I’ve changed the way I home school (when I do it) We have little snippets of learning in the morning eg a maths focus, fine motor skills etc. And then in the afternoon we have a couple of hours focusing on one specific thing eg science, crafts, cooking.

While we were enjoying our lunch Bella found my shopping list and wanted to write her own. Luckily I had already taken a photo of my list and sent it to Rachel so Bella was able to go to town drawing all over the white board before we set about getting on with our homeschooling.

This afternoon our focus was our topic – minibeasts. We started our afternoon by watching a powerpoint on the life cycle of a butterfly and a story. Bella snuggled up on my lap to watch the powerpoint. It’s so cute how she will do that.

Then once the power point was finished I pulled out our activity. A butterfly life cycle sheet. Bella had to cut out the four different stages and then glue them down in order.

Bella really enjoys cutting and sticking and the moment and got really into is. Instead of just cutting out the four different stage pictures in the squares they were in, instead she tried to cut the images out as close as she could get. I have to say her cutting skills are doing amazing and she was able to cut pretty close.

Once they were cut out we stuck them down in order. Bella needed a little help with reminder her which order they go in but she was pretty good and only needed a little nudge.

Stay safe.

Night all and let’s see what adventures tomorrow holds for us.

Love CiCi x
